COVID-19 CEO Update to Employees – June 15th, 2020

June 15, 2020

To all Kymera International Employees,

The Coronavirus is alive and well. Many are talking about a “second-wave”, but have we really seen the end of the first round? While many countries have done a remarkable job in limiting the spread by quarantining, practicing social distancing and following CDC/WHO hygiene recommendations, the United States is still struggling in several states. When U.S. governors “opened-up” their economies and relaxed restrictions, many people returned to the way they interacted in the past, ignoring the fact that we are still deep in the midst of a global pandemic. To complicate things, mass gatherings from people protesting the brutal killing of George Floyd (and those before and after him) has potentially further increased the chance of the virus spreading. The good news is that many protesters are wearing masks which will no doubt help reduce the likelihood of transmission from one-person to another ……now let’s talk about masks……it is clear that people differ in opinion as to the efficacy of wearing masks. Simply covering your nose and mouth with a piece of fabric is not going to stop the spread of the virus, but scientists have shown that the chance of spreading is reduced by 50% when two people, both wearing masks, interact with one another. At Kymera, we will continue following local and federal guidelines around wearing masks, but I do encourage you to wear them, especially when social distancing is not possible.

Because of the uncertainty surrounding a COVID-19 “cure” (vaccine, treatment, herd immunity, or a combination of these three remedies), the global economies will continue to be volatile. This is especially true if we see a resurgence in the number of COVID-19 cases (such as in the U.S., and today in China). As such, our customers’ demand will continue to be unpredictable. There is no doubt that we are seeing an improvement in our order demand and we are hopeful that by the end of June we will start seeing a steady pick-up in order volumes. However, I do not expect us to get back to pre-COVID-19 volume levels for several months.

We truly believe that the strength in our Company lies within our dedicated and loyal workforce. As such we are doing all we can to ensure that the economic burden put on our employees is minimized. Because the government assistance programs (particularly in the U.S.) were developed quickly, the information we were given regarding compensation was not completely accurate and so it is understandable that some employees may feel frustrated. Rest assured that when we emerge from this pandemic, we will resume full operations, return to pre-COVID-19 salaries, and review additional means of compensation to try to partially offset lost wages.

For those who go into the plants each and every day to produce materials for our customers, maintain our equipment, develop new products for tomorrow and give support to the operations, I would like to express my personal gratitude for your dedication. For those working remotely, our success relies on personal interactions and support from our fellow employees, and so I certainly recognize that you may at times get discouraged or feel isolated, so let’s make sure we continue to talk on the phone and use video conferencing to try to make this situation as manageable as possible. Whether you are on the shop floor or working remotely, we are a team and all of us are putting in a lot of time to ensure that Kymera International remains the global leader in metal powders, pastes and master alloys.

Please remember to be safe and stay healthy

Sincerely,

Barton White – CEO

COVID-19 CEO Update to Customers, Suppliers, Service Providers, and Logistic Partners – May 7th, 2020

May 8, 2020

To all Kymera Employees and Valued Partners of Kymera International,

Despite the desire for everyone to get back to a “normal” work-life , Kymera International (the Marketing Brand Name for ACuPowder, ECKA Granules, Innobraze, Reading Alloys and SCM Metal Products) believes that continuing to follow our strict guidelines are necessary to ensure that our employees and their families stay healthy and that we continue to do our part to help rid the world of this horrific pandemic. And so, even as U.S. States and countries around the world begin relaxing restrictions, we will continue with our stringent regulations, including working remotely when possible, taking employees’ temperatures prior to working, not allowing non-essential visitors to our plants and prohibiting employee travel. We will regularly evaluate each situation on a case-by-case basis and when it is time to go back to the office, we will do so in a controlled manner until we are assured all employees are safe.

Our Production Facilities

All of our global production facilities are still operating and open for business. However, the dramatic slowdown in the economy has forced us to furlough employees at various plants and take temporary salary reductions from the executive team down. Our hope is that these temporary measures do not last long.
I greatly appreciate all of our hard-working employees who have once again proven to me why Kymera is such a great company. I would also like to thank our suppliers and customers for their continued loyalty. Be safe and stay healthy! Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Barton White – CEO

COVID-19 CEO Update to Customers, Suppliers, Service Providers, and Logistic Partners – March 31, 2020

March 31, 2020

Dear Valued Partner of Kymera International,

As a follow up to my letter dated March 16, 2020, Kymera International (the Marketing Brand Name for ACuPowder, ECKA Granules, Innobraze, Reading Alloys and SCM Metal Products) continues to do its part in protecting its employees and the greater community. We believe the actions we have taken will help reduce the likelihood of COVID‐19 entering our facilities.

Our Production Facilities

All of our global production facilities are still operating. In the U.S. there have been “stay‐at‐home” directives in New Jersey (ACuPowder), Pennsylvania (Reading Alloys) and North Carolina (SCM Metal Products) for non‐essential businesses. Kymera International is deemed an Essential Critical Infrastructure Business under the guidelines set by the Department of Homeland Security’s, Cyber and Infrastructure Agency (CISA).
Even though our production facilities are still manufacturing, all employees who have the ability to work remotely are doing so for the foreseeable future. Rest assured our attention to detail, technical support and customer service will not be compromised even during these difficult times.
We are aware that several manufacturing sectors are slowing down and therefore we are continually evaluating short term furloughs or temporarily the reducing manning of our workforce (only where appropriate) as we look to balance order demand. For the moment our copper and copper paste businesses, that are impacted by the global automotive slowdown, are showing more signs of a slowdown compared to our aluminum business that supports infrastructure and basic chemicals. Similarly, aerospace is still running strong but with commercial airline travel down significantly we would expect orders to slow down in the coming months at Reading Alloys.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Barton White – CEO

COVID-19 CEO Update to Employees March 23, 2020

COVID-19 CEO Update to Customers, Suppliers, Service Providers, and Logistic Partners – March 16, 2020

March 16, 2020

Dear Valued Partner of Kymera International,

As a follow up to my letter dated March 5, 2020, Kymera International® (the Marketing Brand Name for ACuPowder, ECKA Granules, Innobraze and SCM Metal Products) continues to do its part in protecting its employees and the greater community. We believe the actions we are taking below will help reduce the likelihood of COVID-19 entering our facilities. We have also begun implementing measures to increase inventory at our plants to ensure minimal disruption in the event of a personnel or material shortage.

Effective immediately:

• Kymera employees will no longer be permitted to travel on business until further notification.

• No visitors will be allowed to the Kymera sites unless the visit is related to deliveries or essential outside maintenance contractors.

• Additional resources have been hired to ensure our facilities are cleaned and disinfected multiple times during the day.

• Employees exhibiting symptoms consistent with COVID-19 will be requested to leave the site and only return when they are symptom-free and have a doctor’s certification that they do not have the virus.

• Internal face-to-face meetings are now prohibited unless essential and when the meetings occur no more than two people can attend. The participants must maintain a minimum of 6-feet from one another.

• The CDC and WHO recommend avoiding large groups of people gathering in one place. Because of the nature of our business, Kymera’s operations do not require a large group of employees to be present on the production floor at any given time and so at this time we do not feel that action is required in production or our labs. However, employees should avoid having more than two people in confined areas such as control rooms.

• A staggered work from home approach has been implemented, largely in the administration area where at a minimum, employees will work onsite and at home on alternating days. We will also be moving people around the office areas on a temporary basis to reduce the cluster effect and maintain appropriate distances.

• Kymera will do all it can to ensure no supply disruptions occur. And so, we will be building inventory to best protect our customers should one of our plants have manning issues due to COVID-19.

COVID-19 protocols change on a daily basis and so should further actions be required to protect our employees, customers and the greater population we will be sure to advise.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Barton White – CEO
