Maintenance Technician – Knoxville Plant

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot mechanical components on production equipment as required to maintain optimal machine reliability at a basic level. This includes installation or replacement of various mechanical components such as bearings, sprockets, chain, belts, seals, gaskets, rollers, etc.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems/components on production equipment as required to maintain optimal machine reliability at a basic level. This includes the ability to replace electrical motors, switches, sensors, timers, etc. and repair basic wiring and lighting fixtures and lamps.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections as assigned on all plant equipment, and communicate job status to applicable plant supervisors.  Advise supervisor of needed repairs that require advanced planning.
  • Maintains records for all repairs completed on plant and facility equipment in computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Strictly adhere to all plant work rules and safety practices.
  • Possess basic knowledge of start-up, shutdown, and lockout/tag-out procedures for all equipment.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Employee is frequently required to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity is required.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in heights less than 100 feet.
  • Adequate sight, speech and hearing abilities.
  • Required personal protective equipment devices must be capable of being worn.

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing environment.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme heat and cold; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
  • Noise level is usually low, however, at times very loud.
